Arctic Convoy Setting Sail

All the ships and planes have been painted...well sort of.  I found I need to paint up two ships needed later.  Now for some additional testing.   Photos show the convoy laid out departing Scotland for Arkhangelsk.

A refresher...the ships are a mix of various 1:3000 scale manufacturers.  Rules are pulled from Journey to the End of the Earth, General Quarters 1 and 2, The Hunters, and Seekrieg 5.  The plan is for the convoy to reach the destination in a four hour game slot.

Future blog posts will show more from testing.

  1. Well done, Eric. Looking forward to seeing how this goes. Sounds like a dangerous journey leas ahead. I collected 1:3000 scale RJW fleets. Sold a few. I also have 1:2400 WWI which I plan on expanding.

    1. Summer 1942 was the same time as PQ17 disaster, so yes it will be a challenge. I like 1:3000. I have WWI Austro-Hungarian, French and Italians in the scale.

  2. Great looking mat and ships Eric. I have not heard of the rules called The Hunters and Journey to the ends of the earth, but I have played using the other rules you mention. Who makes those rule sets? Curious if you will have Air, Surface and below surface combatants on the Board similar to what occurred to these convoys in real life...

    1. The Hunters is a solo boardgame. Using it for part of the submarine rules. The other rules are the main convoy rules by Mal Wright. I will account for all types of combatants.
